IEDs. IEDs. Idiots too.
A Fervent Day
Understanding comes in stages.
A heard a dear friend speak with great wisdom this day. Shaking with anger, he stood up- STOOD UP to make his points. A more full, more deeply spiritual, tolerant man than I know, or have known.
I've seen a few imposters, but he is, as the overworked cliche goes, is the real deal.
Faithful.
Diligent.
Tolerant.
Of course, I was agreeing with his point.
BURST OF CLARITY.
Look at bit this way for a moment. Sharpen your focus.
First off, in case we've forgotten, there is still racism in this country. Go no further then Barry Bonds to start the discussion. Unless I miss my guess, this is the simple and bizarre case of a man who, essentially offended by the actions of Mark McGuire(sp?) filled his body with performance enhancing drugs. If the pundits are to be believed, he took Clomid. I don't even want to know why.
Remember, this is the guy who didn't express a real desire to break Aaron's record. He was sure as hell going to break Ruth's though. Probably still will.
So okay, we've got racisim- haven't been able to make it go away. WON'T be able to do so. Ever.
Now, flash your focus to Iraq.
Shiites. Sunnis, Kurds. We are talking about some serious racial and religious ____. Problems that will not go away. They will not. Our will may be strong, but fundamentally, we are dealing with a lot of primal ____ here. Here's a primer:
A lot of Shiites hate all Sunnis.
Most Shiites think Sunnis are less than human.
Some Shiites want peace.
Some Sunnis want peace.
All the Kurds want peace.
Poor _______ Kurds.
Next, a dose of Christianity.
Still on point?
A long time ago the Christians launched the attempts to take the Holy Land. Fighting the Turks- the Saracens, remember? We stuck ourselves into this war long, long ago.
And got beaten back, but never entirely.
Jihad?
Holy war?
Yes, and both sides are completely convinced that they are right. Frankly, I can't understand why these people simply don't lay down their arms and accept life as a real thing, sacred to all. In all of these religions, life is sacred.
But we go ahead and kill people anyway. All of us do. Christian, Islam, Jewish...you can keep going...how many have died because they don't believe what someone else believes?
So, let's follow this through.
We've gone into Iraq and stirred up a racial/religious mess.
Those things take a long, LONG time to heal.
And so far, it ain't happening. With certainty I can assert that as long as I breath, the strife between the Sunni, Shiite, and the Wahabi (DON'T forget the Wahabi) sects of Islam will exist.
Osama Bin _______ Laden is a Wahabi.
Wahabi's are bad, bad men who don't like Christians, particularly American christians, anywhere near Mecca.
They like flying too, but not landing.
Bad guys.
We can only hunt them down and kill them or hope that they will die off.
I'll wait for them to die off. Killing is abhorent. Any killing. Can't understand why anyone would do it.
Would you face a man and put a bullet into his brain point blank?
Not me.
Flash back to Iraq.
We can't stop this.
We've started a dreadful fight.
People are behaving horribly.
Garrotes? These guys are choking each other with piano wire? Luca Brasi ____?
The Catholic Church is behaving as well as possible. They are preaching love, tolerance, and peace. In a hard time that is just about the best thing you can do.
And of course, then we start talking about other prejudices that cannot, and will not, guide my choices.
What a frightful mess we've made...

Blamming people doesn't get anywhere. We are all humans. Humans have the same genetic make-up just raised differently from birth. If you are going to blame anyone, please blame the apes that decided to try the different position <(-.-)> They created a race that will eventually kill itself. So if you are ever in that situation, please spare the planet and do it the usually way. Either that or try to bring up a child who knows how to properly save the planet from certain destruction. But thats just Sci-fi. Sci-fi can never become a reality.
So long as there are more than twenty people on this planet, prejudice will exist. Why twenty? Because, one person in a fit of rage could manage to kill 2 of them (at least), and decrease the world population by 10%.
Our biggest problem in Iraq and the Middle East is more than our presence. The area is entirely Islamic, with few exceptions. Islam is deeply rooted in their culture and laws, and we try to preach separation of church and state.
